How we collect, use and protect personal information — in plain language.
Who we are
Saltbox & Sill Renovation Co. (“we”) is responsible for personal information under our control. Our privacy contact is reachable at [email protected], by phone at +1 902-340-8876 or by mail at 202-1091 Bedford Highway, Halifax, NS B4A 1B7.
We follow the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and its fair information principles.
What we collect
- Estimate requests: name, phone, email, community, project type, size, budget range, timing, home age and your message.
- Project records if you hire us: address, contract, photos of the work area, invoices and warranty records.
- Website data: your cookie choice (stored in your browser) and — only if you agree — analytics data such as pages viewed and approximate location.
Please don't include sensitive information (health, financial account numbers) in the form.
Why we use it
- To reply to your request, book a site visit and prepare a proposal.
- To carry out, invoice and warranty the work you hire us for.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
- To send marketing emails only if you gave express consent.
- With your consent, to understand how the website is used.
We collect only what we need for these purposes and don't sell personal information.
Consent
By sending the form you consent to us using your details to respond to you. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions; we'll tell you what that means for your request.
Email marketing (CASL)
Under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) we send commercial electronic messages only with your consent. The marketing checkbox on our form is unticked by default. Every marketing email identifies us and includes a working unsubscribe link; we process unsubscribe requests within 10 business days. Replies about your own estimate or project are not marketing.
Cookies & analytics
On your first visit you can Accept all, Reject optional or open Settings. Optional tools stay off until you agree (Google Consent Mode v2 defaults to “denied”). You can change your mind any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer.

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts and photos from Unsplash; these services receive your IP address when pages load, as part of delivering the files.
Sharing & storage outside Canada
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the business (for example email, accounting or analytics providers) and with trades working on your project, and only what they need. Some providers may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law. We use contracts to require comparable protection.
Retention & safeguards
Unsuccessful estimate requests are deleted after 24 months. Project and tax records are kept as long as required by law and for the warranty period. We use reasonable physical, organisational and technical safeguards, and limit access to staff who need it.
Access, correction & breaches
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. We'll respond within 30 days, as PIPEDA requires, or tell you if we need an extension. If a breach of security safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm, we'll notify you and report it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Questions & complaints
Contact our privacy contact first at [email protected]. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
